Christian woke up Sunday morning with this rash covering a very large portion of his body. He had started to show signs of it the night before, but we had no idea it would get this bad. We spent the morning (after feeding the Koi fish) trying to find medicine to help him. We still aren't sure what caused this. After some research by my dad, we think it may have been something similar to "sea bathers eruption." We stayed away from the beach for the day hoping to help reduce the rash.
Just outside of the lobby at the Marriott is this huge Koi pond. Every morning at a certain time, you can help to feed them. They are such interesting fish. They were climbing on top of each other in order to get to the food. Several were completely out of the water while trying to get fed.
We drove to Wailua Falls. These are pretty impressive falls. You view them from above and it is a very steep and long drop to the bottom.
The kids had been dying to do some souvenir shopping so we took them to Hilo Hatties. This is one of their smaller stores. Anja and Christian both picked an oyster to open. They learned a trick on our last trip to Hawaii when picking an oyster, so they spent quite a lot of time digging through the bowl to find their perfect oyster. Their searching paid off. Anja's had a large and beautiful pearl and Christian's had two black pearls inside. They were both really excited about their found treasures!
This sweet little boy was having such a wonderful time. He would only really get a nap when he was in his car seat in the car going some place. These were usually rather quick naps. Tonight he zonked so fast - a sign the day was great! (Having two joining hotel rooms was great too!)

Awww so fun! I've never been to Hawaii. Someday . . . When I plan that vacation, I'll ask you what you would deem a "must see". Great pictures. Glad Christian's back is all cleared up. Rashes are scary!
