{Christmas Tradition} Ice Skating

Since Friday was Denver's last day of work before the Christmas break, he declared it "Take Your Daughter To Work Day." This has been a tradition for several year now. Anja always looks forward to it. This year, Anja suggested that Christian come too. He was so excited to go. He felt so grown up going into work. Anja had even made the both of them "work badges" to wear like Denver does.

After meeting them for lunch, I took the kids to the Provo Beach Resort to play for a while while Denver finished the work he wasn't able to finish with two kiddies "working" with him.  Then he met us at the skating rink for some fun skating.

The skating rink has these great skating aids that help the little ones.  They only have ten or so, so of course we didn't get one at first.  So Christian skated holding onto our hands.  He was doing a great job and skated that way for quite a while.  He was getting a little bit tired toward the end of open skate and we took a break.  A nice girl, who was also taking a break, let Christian borrow hers.  He was so excited and just took off on the ice.  He loved using the skating aid and surprised all of us by how great he did!  We gave the girl back her aid and were lucky to be able to get one of our own.  Christian skated the rest of the open skate time with it.  He even got to the point where he would push the aid out from him and skate to it.  He really had a great time!  We were all so proud of him!

So fun! I love ice skating but it's definitely not a "family favorite". Christian was a champion. Wow he really improved a lot after just one visit to the rink. Well done buddy.
