Last weekend we left the cold and dreary weather and headed south for some sunshine and fun. We had all had it with the freezing temperatures and rainy days. (Our neighborhood actually woke up to about 2 inches of snow on Monday morning.) This mini-vacation was exactly what we all needed!
Day 1
We left Saturday morning and drove the long drive to St. George. As we drove, we happily watched the temperature climb higher and higher the closer we got to St. George. Denver's brothers were there for the weekend also, so we dropped Denver off or a round of golf. We checked into our hotel and headed to the pool. Anja and Christian were like little fish. They stayed in the pool all afternoon. We were all sun happy!
We met up with Denver and went to Paula's for Mexican Food. This is one of Denver's all-time favorite places to eat. It is a little over the top with Mexican decorations, and as soon as we sat down, Christian asked when the princesses would be coming out. He still wasn't completely convinced with our answer, so he kept looking around for Snow White to come out.
We walked around the temple after dinner and then let Anja play in the fountain at Ancestor Square. She loved being able to run under the water without getting wet. We also stopped at Twentyfive Main for cupcakes. They were really yummy versions of homemade cupcakes, but I still think Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcakes are the best!
Day 2
We ate breakfast at the Bear Paw. Below is a picture of Christan and Denver looking for bugs while we waited our hour and 15 minutes to get seated. Yup, it is that yummy!
After breakfast we went to a fun center for miniature golf and games. Christian's day was made when he was able to drive a car all by himself! His smile was ear to ear as he climbed out of the car. Denver left to play golf again, so we stayed and played for a while. We ate dinner that night at the Painted Pony. It is a really great place to eat!
Day 3
Christian had been waiting and waiting to go to the dinosaur museum. Our local zoo has dinosaurs on display and he was slightly afraid but more fascinated with them. He was excited to see more dinosaurs. He was rather disappointed to find out this museum was only dinosaur tracks. It is an interesting place, but for little ones, the first foot print is neat to see, but they loose interest fast with the others. They both loved digging in the sand to find fossils. We again just loved being outside in the sun. We were all wishing our vacation didn't need to come to an end. We ended our St. George trip with a visit to Nielsen's Frozen Custard.
On the drive home we were sad to see the temperature dropping. When we left St. George, it was in the high 70s. When we pulled into our garage, the temperature was 46 degrees. It made us want to turn around and go right back!
