Even though Anja was really excited for Easter, she still slept in for the normal time (8:30 or 9:00). The first thing she asked was if it was Easter. When I told her it was, she quickly went in to wake up Denver. The Easter Bunny had left a basket at the top of the stairs for her to gather her eggs in. She didn't notice it when she went in to wake up Denver, but noticed it after that. She did a squeal and shouted to us that the Easter Bunny had been here, and that she could see the eggs he had left her. He had left a trail of eggs going down the stairs, into the kitchen and then into the family room. She had so much fun gathering the eggs.
Anja was also excited about the gifts the Easter Bunny had left her. He left her exactly what she had wanted. She got a Dora bath toy, Littlest Pet Shop toys, a new Scooby Doo movie, and some spring clothes. She was so excited she kept telling us, "This is the happiest Easter ever!"
We had also been teaching her the important part of Easter - Jesus' resurrection. She had heard us talk about it several times before Easter Sunday. So, during sharing time, she was quite excited to find they were talking about it again. When the teacher said, "Isn't it wonderful to know that because Jesus was resurrected, we can all live again?" Anja jumped out of her chair with her hands above her head and cheered out an enthusiastic yes! She was also quite dramatic when she tried to describe how Jesus died but then was resurrected. Needless to say, Easter Sunday was quite an exciting day for her.
