January has come and gone - a little too quickly if you ask me. Although it has gone by quickly, I always look forward to February. This means winter is on its way out eventually. We love where we live, but get so over and done with the long winter.
Since school didn't start until the Monday after the new year, we had a few extra days to play. Denver got sick on New Year's Eve and had planned to go back to work on the 2nd. Since he missed two play days with his kiddies, he decided to stay home those two extra days. We took advantage and went sledding both days. Denver took the kids to a hill not far from our house. Andrew and I stayed in the car and watched. The hill was pretty slick, so there were a few crashes resulting in some minor scrapes, but they all had a fun time.
The next day we took a drive to Soldier Hollow in Midway to the tubing park. This is such a fun place to tube. There is a rope tow, so you don't have to hike all the way to the top of the hill. There are several different runs to try. Denver and I tag teamed with Andrew so we could both have some tubing fun. I love going down the hill hearing both kids squealing in delight!
After Soldier Hollow, I talked Denver into going into Midway to go through the Ice Castles. He was glad I made him. These ice castles were amazing!
We also welcomed our newest niece to the family. Savanna Kea (they are going to call her Savy) was born on the 2nd. A big kudos to my sister, Nikki, for going a week past her due date so Savanna could be born in 2014 - deduction met!
Denver and Anja took a Saturday ski lesson. Anja has been so excited to start skiing again!
We had an early out week the second week in January. This was supposed to be filled with lots of fun, but was filled with sickness by both children...
Denver went to Korea for the last two weeks in January. Someone always gets sick while he is gone. Christian was sick again, and Andrew got pink eye. Not so much fun for anyone! Denver made it home on Thursday and then took Anja skiing the next day.
On a brighter note, we have officially booked another family vacation to Hawaii! We can't wait!

The ice castles look amazing. We'll have to check them out! January did go by fast this year. Usually it's so long and boring and goes by too slowly, but this year it went by quickly--agree, too quickly.
