Memorial Weekend is considered by many to be the unofficial start of summer. We were keeping our fingers crossed for good weather throughout the weekend, but had to settle for one good day.
Saturday was a huge air show at Hill Air Force Base. Denver and Christian were very excited to go to this. Anja and I were not so excited, but willing to tag along. When we got there, the weather was pretty cold. While we were waiting for the shuttle to take us to the event, it started to rain - then it started to pour. By the time we arrived at the event, it was pour-ing. It was difficult to actually get into the event because of the hundreds of people leaving - all soaked. Needless to say, there were no planes or jets flying while we were there. We sucked it up and tried to see as much as we could see, but after a while we just had to give up to the weather. Christian was freezing and shivering by the time Denver was ready to call it quits. Of course as we were getting to our car, the weather let up a bit and the jets started to fly again. At least they were able to see some of it!
Monday turned out to be a beautiful day! We spent the day at Thanksgiving Point. We did the dinosaur museum in the morning and the farm in the afternoon. It was a perfect day for being outside!
Taking a snack break after the dinosaur museum.
Riding the ponies - Christian was wearing his cowboy duster.
He came prepared!
In Jail
We carried our festivities into Tuesday. We lit a fire and roasted hot dogs for dinner and then marshmallows for s'mores. It felt like the start to a great summer!
(Just 7 more days of school!)
